Compression Springs are open coiled helical springs that resist a compression force applied axially. They may be tapered, conical, cylindrical, convex, or concave in shape.

Extension Springs are a wire spring that reacts to forces pulling the ends apart, & physically extending in shape, trying to offer resistance & returns to its closed coil shape. Extension Springs are designed to absorb & store energy, as well as create resistance to a pulling force. It is the initial tension that determines how tightly together it is coiled.

Torsion Springs are a specific type of spring that reacts to rotational forces called torque. Torsion Springs exert torque in a circular or rotating arch with the spring arms rotating about the central axis. They can store & release angular energy or statically hold a mechanism in place by deflecting the legs about the body centerline axis.
